Python Workshop

On Febrarury 2019, a python workshop was organized by the Computing Club students and the Department of Computer Science

and engineering teaching assistant Eng. Abdulahi Hassen, to benefit the QU Engineering students who are eager to improve their

computer programming skills.

The workshop was prepared and conducted by three computer

science and engineering department teaching assistants, Eng.

Heba D. M. Dawoud, Eng. Farah A. T. AlQawasma and Eng.

Fatima Amir Hamza in a span of four sessions. The workshop

was a project based workshop were the students learned the

Python programming language through a game called the

hangman.

The workshop was also free and open to all engineering students. There were more than 100 students who

were interested in taking the workshop. However, due to the limited space of the classroom, around 44 students

were accepted for the first workshop. From the 44 students, more than 30 have completed the workshop

successfully.

After the workshop, the students had a positive feedback about the workshop as well as the instructors who

presented the workshop. An honor student Nourhan who took the workshop said, "Thank you, Because of you,

we now have come to learn how to speak Python". She also said “… I wish to highlight the importance of such workshops to the

students as for courses offered in our major only cover limited topic. We get inspired to investigate and deal with things that are

different than those in our courses' content by taking such workshops." Eng. Farah was one of the instructors of the workshop who

said, "These positive feedbacks were mainly due to the way we prepared the workshop by deviating from the traditional teaching

method to a project-based teaching".
