

Foundation Program-Qatar University
The Foundation Program seeks to improve students’ skills in Mathematics and English
before starting Science, Health Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, and Education
(Secondary Education with concentrations in Sciences only).
What do I need to know about the Foundation Program?
• It is a one-year experience with a provision for completion in a maximum of two years.
• Withdrawal (W) and failure (F) in a course are counted from the two year period.
• Students must achieve a score of 70% and above to pass all foundation courses.
• Foundation Suspension status: If a student fails to finish foundation-level courses within two years, he/
she will be placed under foundation suspension. To continue into the college he/she was admitted in,
students must meet the exemption requirements* or contact Admission Department for assistance.
Foundation Math Course:
There is one level that consists of one non-credit course.

Foundation Program Courses
There are two departments in the Foundation Program: English and Mathematics. Below is a description
of the courses which students have to complete in this program.
Foundation English Courses
There are two levels, Elementary (001) and Intermediate (002), and each level consists of three non-
credit courses.
