How Smart is your Parking?
The involvement of external professionals in our
curricula is of high mutual interest. Our students have the
opportunity to benefit from professional feedback given
by experts in their fields, and the companies and big
projects in Qatar have the opportunity to meet and
exchange with our students and increase the their
awareness about concrete needs and realizations in the
country.
This was the case during last Spring term within
the “Engineering Skills and Ethics” course. Smart City
experts from Lusail Smart City and Aspire Zone
Foundation have been invited to the demonstrations/
competition session of the course. The students presented
their prototypes and defended their ideas in front of these
experts. “Some of the proposed ideas are highly creative
and are an evidence of the students' personality” said
Ibrahim Kocagoz, Project Manager – Smart City (Lusail
City Development Project), who participated in the
women session. Farouk Ibrahim, Senior Technical
Architect (Aspire Zone Foundation) who was part of the
mensession added “I see highly attractive designs and a
great use of modern 3D tools. I am impressed how the
students are quickly able to master such tools!”. The two
experts helped selecting the best 3 proposals for each
session. “Beyond the awards, the contact with the Smart
City experts gave a great motivation to the students, and
this is the best conclusion I can expect for this course. I
really thank Lussail and Aspire Zone for their great
collaboration” concluded Dr. Abdelaziz Bouras, CSE
faculty who is teaching the course during this term.
