CSU for Process Engineers:
This course will train process engineers on
executing major capital projects and gives an
insight into the process of operations start-up
and implementation.
Dehydration:
This is a two-day intensive course where
participants will learn about the water content of
natural gas, the conditions under which hydrates
are formed, the alternatives for removing water,
and how glycol, refrigeration, and dessicant
dehydration units are designed.
LNG Liquefaction Technology:
Provides an extensive two-day training on gas
liquefaction technology, including LNG
characteristics and safety, LNG plant overview,
gas pre-treatment, liquefaction process design
and characteristics, equipment characteristics
(cryogenic heat exchangers,
compressors/rotating equipment), start-up
issues, operation and troubleshooting.
GE Gas Turbines - Operations and Maintenance:
Provides a comprehensive understanding of
heavy duty gas turbines operation and
maintenance.
Acid-Gas Injection:
This is a two-day intensive course in which
participants will learn about acid gas, its physical
properties, the di erence between sweet and
sour gas, estimation of phase and equilibrium
and water content in acid gas mixtures, and
di erence in design of acid gas and sweet gas
compressors.
Plant-wide Control:
In this course, participants will learn how to
tackle structural issues such as whether variables
should be measured and controlled; which
inputs should be manipulated; which pairings
should be made between the two sets; and
when should multivariable control (MPC) and
decentralized control (PID) be used.

Gas Processing Center (GPC)
The Gas Processing Center was launched at QU
in March 2007 to address challenges and
opportunities in the eld of gas processing. The
Center enjoys an excellent relationship with local
and international companies that have presence
in Qatar and its consortium members are major
players in the gas industry. In addition to its
research activities, the Center o ers periodic
technical training programs and organizes
annual international symposia. It collaborates
with world leading organizations to provide the
best quality training sessions.
Continuing education courses o ered by the
GPC include:
• Pulsation, Vibration and Noise Control in
Process Installations
• Process Integration
• LNG Technology
• CSU for Process Engineers
• Dehydration
• NG Liquefaction Technology
• GE Gas Turbines – Operations and Maintenance
• Acid-Gas Injection
• Plant wide Control
Pulsation, Vibration and Noise Control in Process
Installations:
Intended for project engineers in piping and
rotating equipment as well as for ow assurance
and mechanical engineers who are involved in
design, operation, optimisation or maintenance
of process installations. Participants from
operating companies, engineering contractors
and equipment manufacturers are also invited to
attend this course. Focus will be on application
of the theory discussed in the lectures.
Process Integration:
This short course will provide step-by-step
coverage of the fundamentals and industrial
applications of process integration. Systematic
techniques will be presented to guide
participants in developing cost-e ective
solutions to process design and operation
problems.
